It's meant as a checksum, and they document the algorithm right in the "xlink.ENU.pdf" linker document that you can read by selecting "Help"->"IAR Linker and Library Reference Guide" from the menu bar in the IAR IDE. It's the -J option. List all the generation options (1, 2, 4 bytes; 16 or 32 bit, the Polynomial used, bit reversal etc). It's all there in black and white pixels.
