Can you try using the MSP-FET with a different computer (may require a fresh installation of CCS, which may be another good thing to try)? Also, can you share screenshots of the errors you're seeing? Unfortunately, there are so many things that can affect JTAG communication, like something as simple as a broken wire in the debugger's ribbon cable. The link below discusses more debugging strategies for JTAG issues. Another thing you could try is adding a pull-down resistor to the TEST/SBWTCK pin, which can be very sensitive to rising signal edges that can cause the test logic to enter a state where an entry sequence (either 2-wire or 4-wire) is not recognized correctly and JTAG access stays disabled.
