I thought about having to send out upgrade files with lists of old vector tables, but it just seemed insane, error prone, and a lot of work. The fact that bit banging the SBW is a more robust option should be a signal to TI that their BSL implementation is not optimal. The thing is that most people are going to find out about the IVT / password madness well into their implementations of host bootloader support. This isn't exactly obvious from the documents and when you find out there is almost no workaround you kind of want to tear your hair out.
