This seems to be a common problem, but none of the solutions I've found seem to work or apply. Many apply to older versions of CCS that don't have the same option sets. (specifically, many indicate I should see a factory reset option in the scripts menu - mine shows "no scripts available." The out-of-box demo GUI works correctly with the launchpad, so I guess the USB cable and port are OK. I can see the XDS110 devices in the devices manager. Driver removal including file deletion and reinstall has no observable effect i can find. But the updater can not see it C:\ti\ccsv6\ccs_base\common\uscif\xds110>xdsdfu.exe -e USB Device Firmware Upgrade Utility Copyright (c) 2008-2015 Texas Instruments Incorporated. All rights reserved. Scanning USB buses for supported XDS110 devices... Found 0 devices. and of course CCS6.2 can't see it either. I've tried both and old (Black soldermask) revision and newer (Red soldermask) Launchpads to no avail. Appropriate drivers seem to be installed in CCS. I'm out of ideas and I've not found any others with searches here or on the wider net. I'll happily RTFM if I can find which FM to R.
