After looking deeper into this, I'm wondering if the MSP-FET debugger driver installation failed on the Windows 8.1 PC when IAR was installed. Refer to Section 4.2 in the MSP Debuggers User's Guide for detailed instructions. It may be beneficial to manually reinstall the driver. Your IAR version seems to be fine. According to this link , Windows 8 is supported by IAR v5.51.1 and later. According to this link , Windows 10 is supported by IAR v6.40.1 and later. Also, the MSP Debug Stack supports both Windows 8 and Windows 10 according to this link . A potential workaround could be to install the standalone driver package .
