I am interested in your project and quite willing to help with no strings attached. I am not a TI employee but I have been participating in this MSP430 Forum for more then 10 years. Your TI contact might even know me by my nickname Old_Cow_Yellow aka OCY. I have a few questions. Please do not disclose anything that may potentially impede your patent application in the future. I assume the system you developed can be battery operated and hoisted on the chest or waist. The microphone has to be close to the mouth and the breath sensor yet somewhere else. There is no reason to go wireless between the microphone or breath sensor and the system, which would require extra sets of different batteries. Is this assumption correct? You did not describe the sensor to detect breath patterns. Do you already have it? Is it to be mounted on a chest strap or attached to the breathing tube? What is nature of the electric signal that it sends? (Digital? Analog? Voltage? Frequency?) Roughly how many different breath patterns can you detect? Is it you intention to assign some of them to the alphabet so that the user can spell out the word he/she wants to sound? Or, is it enough to only assign them to often-needed sentences, phrases, or words? I ask this because I want to know if we should use text-to-speech (which is more difficult to do) or simply play back pre-recorded voice (which is easier to do). Should we assign a few of the breath patterns to other commands (such as turn on/off the light, sound/cancel an alarm, and wheelchair controls). If so, what other interface (in addition to generating voice) do we need?
