It sounds like you may be using the MSP-FET or our older MSP-FET430UIF debugger. These devices provide a convenient connection between a computer and an MSP430 microcontroller board for debugging programs or downloading firmware. These devices don't really come with software in the box, rather most users download Integrated Development Environment (IDE) software from the web to write, debug, and download programs into MSP430 MCUs. TI offers the Code Composer Studio IDE (CCS) for working with the MSP-FET . In addition, we also provide a cloud-based version of CCS as well as 3rd party tool vendors who also support the MSP-FET .
